Happy St. Patrick's Day!

My Mom has a coffee mug that said "Kiss me, I'm Irish" that got me thinking today. Is there really any Irish in me? So what does Kathryn's heritage look like... We'll we are pretty sure what Eric heritage look's like, and well, as for me... I know bits.

We do know that there is German, Dutch, English, Scottish, Belgian, Czech, French & Welsh from the Waugh side. (Thanks to Eric's dad, we can even tell you that Eric is 29/64 German.) My side we know there is Scottish (I'm at least a 1/4) & English. Mom's Mom's side (goes back to the 1800's in West Viriginia/Kentucky area) and Dad's Dad's side (goes back to the 1700's and Daniel Boone). Which means I am probably a true American mutt with a lot of English and maybe even a tiny bit Native American in there also.

Doing a quick online check of last names that I know... Waugh is Scottish, Payne is English. That we already knew. Below are origins of the last names that I know about in our family. These are just origins, not where the family may have actually came from.

From Eric's side... Whitney (English), Bowersox (German), Christner (German), Weeldreyer (German), Kassens (German), Friese (Dutch), Herlyn (either Dutch or Fleming... not quite sure).

From my side Adkins (English), Bucy (most likely French, but could be Engligh or German... I'll have to ask someone), Maynard (English/French), Moore (English), Damron (French), McKenzie (Scottish), Lovette (Scottish), Sharpe (Irish). Interestingly, Moore appears on a couple of branches of my tree.

It is safe to say that we are an European mix. And I bet somewhere in there a little Irish got mixed into my side. So hey, Happy St. Patrick's Day!
