6 hours at the hospital

After 6 hours sitting in the hospital on Saturday (10 minutes with a real doctor, 10 minutes being pushed through the hallways, 20 minutes with the sonogram tech, and the entire rest of the time of being really bored in the room) I was told they couldn't find anything wrong and to take Tylenol for the pain.

So why was I there you ask? Friday afternoon I left work at 2:30 with what I thought was just "stomach issues" and tried to sleep it off until Eric got home at 5. Unfortunately, by the time he got home just moving made my stomach hurt and me flinch in pain. My first thought was it was just gas or I really needed to go to the bathroom. I decided I would see if I could sleep it off. That did not work. I barely slept Friday night.

Saturday morning Eric & I went back and forth about going to the hospital. The pain wasn't in a place that made me think it had anything to do with the baby. We got up and went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Eric convinced me to call my OB's night service and leave a message. Another doctor called back and said I shouldn't have abdominal pain for more than 12 hours and I should stop by the maternity triage unit at the hospital. So we went. And that started a very long day.

The only good part of the trip was that during the sonogram to rule out liver issues or kidney stones, they went ahead and took a look at the baby. So here is the first picture of Baby Waugh. My real sonogram is scheduled for Friday. Hopefully the baby will cooperate more and stay still so we can figure out if we have a he/she.

It's fun to get a picture, but being at the hospital is no fun! Are you feeling any better?

I love you and hope you are feeling better. on Friday when you get the next picture, I will need more of an explenation of what is what! All I know for sure is it is a beautiful baby that wants to see its grandmama!

Looks just like Eric did at that stage. We can tell that it is a Waugh!! Grandpa and Grandma.

being the experienced pros that we are (haha) Jonathan says he can tell that the head is the on the left and he can see the eye sockets and the line between the brain hemispheres. we think it looks more like jennifer than eric though. :) your real sonogram should be fun. it's amazing to see how active they are!

It was amazing to see the heart beat. And as usual, s/he wouldn't sit still. If I listen to Mom, as she would tell you that I wouldn't sit still either, I think Elisha is right and it is going to look like me :)

I'm definitely going with Jonathan. Head on the left, big black eye sockets, white nose/mouth area, round belly on the right, fuzzy white arms above and below the belly.

and according to the tech, the little white lines on the far right at the edge of the belly are feet :) Apparently the baby was "sitting" at that point.
