kathryn's happenings

As I was playing on line this morning, Kathryn was watching Super WHY! (yeah I know... you are so shocked right??). And she was actually telling them the correct super letters they were finding! Yay for my smart little girl!!!

So this is what is happening in Kathryn's world. We bought her big girl furniture yesterday and will get most of it delivered on Thursday. The night stand was on back order, but she probably doesn't need that for a little bit anyway. If there is room, we plan on leaving her crib in her room for a little bit to get her used to the big girl bed idea. Of course, we have to get a mattress first. I think I'll start her out at nap time in her big girl bed and then go from there. Unless you guys have any suggestions on how to transition.

Her new favorite thing of mine is the top of my bathing suit. Here's proof.

Don't you just love the hair and all the color combinations???

Eric & I were in the guest room that is about to be little brother's room. I had washed the cover to the car seat and a warm blanket for him. They were sitting on the bed. Kathryn decided that she need to double check to make sure it was safe for him to use.

I love her smile. Especially when you can get such a good grin on camera.

I think that is about it. Oh, we weighed and measured her this weekend. She is 33 inches tall and weighs 25 lbs. My little baby is growing up :(

3ish weeks to go.... maybe

I had my first "checking" appointment today. Heartbeat still sounds great. He's moving like crazy. I'm more than 1 cm but not quite 2 yet. But I know that doesn't really mean anything since I was that way with Kathryn for a few weeks.

I also got a little peak at him this morning. Apparently at my check up last week the doctor thought he was sideways. I saw the Nurse PA today and she said he felt like he was the right way, but he was wiggling pretty good so she sent me to the ultrasound lady to get a check. Yep, he's head down. She scared me for a minute when she said we may have to talk about a c-section. Not really what I want to do. Especially with a 19 month old running around like crazy.

I say 3ish weeks to go maybe because I just have this feeling he's coming early. I know it is more likely for the 2nd one to come early, but I just feel different than I did at this point with Kathryn. I think I knew Kathryn was going to be late. But this time, I just know he's coming early. Watch, he'll be a week late too. I'm not make predictions about when, but I keep having dreams he comes in January, not February.

And we are closer to a name. Not completely decided yet, but we are getting there. And yes, my bag is packed... for the most part anyway.

mommy's little helper

I needed chocolate this afternoon and I had been wanting to make cookies. Thanks to my 1/8 cup measuring cup I found at Walmart, it is easy to half the tollhouse recipe.

I had already given Kathryn two halves of cookies, but this time she got her stool and got one for herself. I can't say much. I'm sure I would have done the same thing.

Christmas pics

I guess "they" are right that Christmas becomes about the kiddos. If there is a grown up in any of the pictures, it is on accident apparently.

Our Family Christmas:

Kathryn with the tree

coat, hat, and sit & spin from Mommy & Daddy

an Elmo See & Say from Great Gma Bucy

Waugh Christmas:

opening table & chairs

elmo towel from Elisha & Jonathan

Daisy sitting at the door...
but if you look closely you can see a baby belly
(it is the only pic in months)

playing outside waiting for Nana & Grandad

Payne Christmas:

notice the sunglasses & mittens

Super WHY! from Nana & Granddad

said Elmo towel from Elisha & gang

table & chairs and friends

We had a great Christmas spread out over almost a week. Kathryn loved having grandparents around more than the gifts I think. She is still asking for one of them in the mornings (different ones each morning). I think she is just wanting someone besides Mommy in the mornings. Course Why! goes with her just about everywhere (see previous posts for explanation on that one).

There are more pictures if you click on the "Christmas" under one of the pictures.

one smart little cookie

I knew Kathryn was smart, but didn't realize how much she knew until Eric was home for a few days and kept pointing out all those things that I hear but don't pick up as new stuff. At 18 months she can count to 5 and sometimes 10. She can get to five without help especially if there are actual things to count.

And the alphabet! That came out of the blue one day. Right before Christmas she was playing with her keyboard (our old one that used to have a cord on it that we cut off so she could play with it and not mommy's laptop) and she pointed to the O and said "O". I hadn't seen her do that before but Eric said he had. So we tried a couple more letters... M, S, T... knew all of those. Her favorite letters are O and W. W is just "double", but she will pick it out anywhere. We were watching football this weekend (oh and she knows touchdown with hand signals and all). The game on was the Oregon vs Ohio State game and they zoomed in on a Oregon player and she said O. She also kept showing us the the U in Best Buy. Most of the letters she can point out are uppercase, but she can get the lower case ones that look the same... o, s, u, m and sometimes t. The letters I know she can point out are O, R, S, T, U, B, M, N, W, A, E, Y, and sometimes H, L, & K. I think that's not bad for 18 months. Maybe I'm wrong. The sad part is I'm not sure I've been the one to teach her any of those. Her favorite show is Super WHY! on PBS. Anytime the tv is on she thinks we are going to watch an episode. Thank goodness for a DVR.

She had her 18 month check up last week and is up to 24ish pounds and 33ish inches. They used to give me a check up sheet with that info on it but they didn't do that this time and I had to go by memory when we got home. I have no short term memory right now.

I'll post Christmas stuff once I get pictures off the camera.
