hospital tour

Last night Eric & I went on a tour of the hospital and what are the usual steps once the time comes. For some reason, it was a very emotional time for me. I never actually cried but there were a couple of times that I easily could've if there hadn't been other people there with us.

We were shown were triage was (been there already...), and then we were shown the room they label "Labor, birth & recovery". Yes there is a TV there and yes it receives TBS so I'll have to plan going into labor when the Braves are on! The adjoining room is where they clean and do whatever they need to the baby. Complete with the heat lamp warmer. That was kind of strange.

Then we were taken to the regular room. They can either be private or semi-private depending on how busy they are. The privates have to be requested at the time your labor starts and there has to be one available. I am hoping for a private that way Eric can stay with me. If I don't get one he has to leave every night after she's here.

If you want to know more about visiting, etc, I'll let you know. But most of you reading aren't in the same state so it would be just a bunch of boring details.

Did going to the hospital make it seem any more "real"?

With both of mine, I was glad that I had seen the hospitals before delivery. It made it a little more comfortable. Of course, we visited both early and had to go to both early with contractions...so we had two visits. I hope you don't have to have that second kind of visit!

Don't get your hopes up about a Braves game. TBS has gone "funny" and has very few games scheduled for this season.
