plane ride & other things

(earlier post from tonight is below with new pictures)

This past weekend we went (by plane) to South Dakota for Eric's cousin Becky's wedding. I'm not sure how well the little one liked the plane rides. On the way from Philly to Cinci she moved the entire flight and gave me a few good kicks/punches. Then from Cinci to SD she was still active, but not as much as the first leg of the trip.

She did better on the way home. I think it wore her out because I didn't feel her move that night. She's usually up right after I get up for my 3:30 AM potty break, but not last night.

She may also be a dancer. During the dance part of the reception she was really moving to the fast dance songs (C&C Music Factory's Gonna Make You Sweat, Ice Ice Baby, you know... all the standards). There was one song, and I don't remember which one, it was almost like she was kicking to the beat. Eric was a little skeptical.

Other than that.... Yes, she has a name, but no, I won't tell you what it is. No, I don't think we are ready yet (physically or mentally). Nothing has been done with her room except the removing of the guest bed. Eric has felt her move, but we have to trick her. Otherwise as soon as Eric touches me, she stops moving. I figure she's just practicing being a brat.

I'm feeling okay. I have reached that point where I feel pregnant and the belly is starting to get in the way, especially when I want to sleep. My back aches a little bit and I've gained a few more pounds. I go to the doctor tomorrow (Tuesday) so we'll see how much they say I've gained. I'm guessing around 15 pounds. I haven't noticed any new stretch marks, only a few older ones that may be bigger than before.

I think that is it. Let me know if I missed something!

three months to go!

Today officially starts the third trimester, so I guess that means three months or so to go. Here's an updated picture...

and here is a belly shot...

No, you don't have to adjust your colors. The wall is white instead of yellow. And yes, it is almost the same shirt. The first shirt was maroon and this one is black. I liked the black one so much (thanks Randy & Sarah for the Christmas present) that I went and got the maroon one!

sports fan in the making?

Eric's last indoor soccer game of the season was last night. While sitting there yelling at the ref, and trying to bite my tongue, I noticed that she was all over the place. Then I realized she is really active during his games.

I'm not sure if this is due to my higher blood pressure as I get into them or if she likes/dislikes all the noise. I am hoping there is a sports fan in the making and exposing her to loud cheering now will get her used to it and we can go to other sporting events later with her. (All those cars going around in circles can get really loud! And yes, they make baby earplugs!)

But anyway, it was a neat realization last night. Plus I like to think of it as cheering for her daddy :)

hospital tour

Last night Eric & I went on a tour of the hospital and what are the usual steps once the time comes. For some reason, it was a very emotional time for me. I never actually cried but there were a couple of times that I easily could've if there hadn't been other people there with us.

We were shown were triage was (been there already...), and then we were shown the room they label "Labor, birth & recovery". Yes there is a TV there and yes it receives TBS so I'll have to plan going into labor when the Braves are on! The adjoining room is where they clean and do whatever they need to the baby. Complete with the heat lamp warmer. That was kind of strange.

Then we were taken to the regular room. They can either be private or semi-private depending on how busy they are. The privates have to be requested at the time your labor starts and there has to be one available. I am hoping for a private that way Eric can stay with me. If I don't get one he has to leave every night after she's here.

If you want to know more about visiting, etc, I'll let you know. But most of you reading aren't in the same state so it would be just a bunch of boring details.

side effects

I have begun to notice several side effects of pregnancy. Most of them I could do without.

First is mood changes and extreme irritability. (Eric can amen this one.) The slightest little thing can send me off the deep end and at work I can get very agitated.

Second is leg cramps. I remembered what charlie horses felt like from all those years of basketball, but man, constant all day long cramps really hurt. I've only had one maybe two really bad charlie horse cramps in the past couple of weeks.

Third is the memory thing. I can be in the middle of a sentence and then realize I have no clue where I am going or sometimes what I was even talking about. It is really annoying when you are leading a meeting.

The last thing I'm not sure how pregnancy related it is, but my dreams are getting weird. I won't go into details, but things I have no clue about or what rabbit I chased down the hole. They seem to be getting more detailed also. But they are very strange.
