i'm how old??

Kathryn is three months!! And what a first three months she has had! Two states, multiple 8+ hour car rides, aunts, uncles, grandparents, great grandparents, a great aunt, a whole bunch of mommy & daddy's friends, two church nurseries, and so much more!

I know I put up pictures yesterday, but here are two from today.

I think she is telling me to get the camera out of her face!

I thought they were cute. The second one is my favorite. This is a typical face lately. At least it isn't her whole fist in her mouth... which I have seen before.

Eric & I were talking (okay more like me thinking out loud and him laughing at me). If you count these three months with the nine months mommy carried her around... she's really a year old and that calls for celebration... and maybe cake or at least a fudgecicle :)

pics from last week

Here are a couple of pictures from the last week or so...

This is usually what ends up happening during "tummy time".

Look for a "video" clip of this one to come soon.

She's to the point that everything has to go into her mouth. I just don't have the heart to tell her that Dixon has already gotten a hold of the monkey... luckily the other end than what she has. If you notice she is off the mat. She has started to be an inch worm... but only on her back.

kathryn's room and bathroom

These are really for Mom to see since she helped me set these rooms up last week... but everyone should be able to enjoy them also :)

This is Kathryn's room....

This is the hall bathroom...

another first

We survived. Didn't think I could do it, but it all turned out okay and everyone awoke ready to start the day.

I had been dreading the day, or night I should say, that Kathryn slept in her own room. Last night she did... and I survived. Whew! I had been waiting until we moved so she wouldn't get too many transitions at once. She had been sleeping in the pack-and-play in our room (it is nice and has a built-on changing table which made the middle of the night feedings easier early on). I didn't want to move her to her own room in Delaware just to move her back to the p-a-p in North Carolina while we got her room ready.

I waited her until we painted and had her room situated the way I wanted it. There's just a few things to hang on the wall and then it is complete. My parents were in town this weekend so I didn't want to move her yet in case she woke up screaming. Didn't think that was fair to them. {Oh and thanks Mom & Dad for all the help getting things unpacked, moved, and fixed!!!!}

I gave her the last feeding of the night and rocked her a little bit. I thought she was asleep... until I laid her down. She fussed a little bit and I gave her the paci to help. I couldn't leave the room. Finally I just walked out. I did miss being able to look over at her when I woke up in the middle of the night. But I did restrain myself from going into her room.

She survived. I survived. I think this is going to work.

p.s. I'll post pics once I get the pics on the wall.

ACC land!!!

One of joys of being back in the south... ACC football!! Not only are we back where ABC regional coverage includes the ACC, but the local news only covers ACC football!! Go figure... our regional news is out of Raleigh-Durham...

Anyway... Kathryn enjoyed watching her first Tech football game (yes we know it was game three but we didn't have a tv last week and we tried to watch the first game on espn360.com and that was happening for somereason).

where in the world (or box) is...

I'm still working on the unpacking and at this point it is more like a search and rescue mission looking for something that apparently is in a mislabeled box. We are almost done with the boxes inside the house (except the kitchen... I can't figure out how to organize in there so I am avoiding it!). Then we have to tackle the "basement" boxes in the garage so Eric can use his side of the garage again.

Here are a few things I have found so far unpacking boxes. Some of them I laughed at so I thought I would share.

A box labeled "bathroom stuff" only contained lightbulbs...
A box labeled "baby's room teddy bears" had baby wipes, a wicker basket, a toy thingy to put over the high chair at a resturant, a few hangers, and a stuff frog... no bear in sight...
A box labeled "foyer shoes & water thingy" ended up on top of the entertainment unit...
A box labeled for the office containing the tower for the desktop computer ended up in the kitchen...
I have opened all the boxes labeled linen (or linnen) closet and laundry room and have yet to find my iron and fabric softner sheets...
Parts of my laundry sorter ended up in three different places...

While unpacking and unwrapping, we have been making boxes of paper. I heard paper rustling and this is what I found...

I guess everyone is wanting to help unpack a little!

too much caffeine???

Apparently my caffeine intake must have increased lately. Below are two videos, both from Wednesday, and about 12 hours apart.

Kathryn is playing on her Rainforest mat/toy thingy. She played on this for about two hours (while I unpacked!! thank you Fisher Price!) and sounded like this for the entire two hours...

This one was taken at 10:30 PM when I could barely keep my eyes open. It is a litle long and the end of the video is boring, but it was much easier just to post than to edit :)

I think today I will reduce the amount of caffeine that I consume!!

09 September 2008

all moved in... sorta

I guess I could say that we are all moved in. At least all the boxes are in the house.

We closed on the house in North Carolina on Friday (and had internet by the afternoon!). We spent Saturday and Sunday doing errands around town and a little painting & cleaning. So far we have changed the brownish band under the chair rail in the kitchen & dining room to green to match our stuff (almost, if not, the same color we had in Delaware). We tried to tone down the yellow in the guest bath, but apparently I didn't chose a subdued enough color. It still is bright. We have Kathryn's room half done. I'm doing a purple bottom with a white top, but I can't decide on the border in between. Yes I know I should have picked the border before the paint. But oh well!

Sorry that I don't have pictures yet. I know I brought the camera with us, but I haven't finished unpacking the bags from this weekend. I believe it is in the bookbag, but not completely sure. I'll try to get pictures up this week!
